Watch: Chris Young helped off field with hamstring injury

MLB.com

Boston Red Sox outfielder Chris Young suffered what the team is calling a right hamstring strain following his second-inning base hit in Thursday's game against the Chicago White Sox, and was forced to leave the game with help from trainers.

Young slapped a James Shields pitch off the Green Monster and took a wide turn rounding first base before stopping and grabbing the back of his right leg. He hopped and fell back on the base while being unable to put weight on his leg. Red Sox trainers carried the 32-year-old down the dugout steps to be examined.

Boston was already dealing with a hole in left field before Young came up limping, as utility man Brock Holt and catcher/outfielder Blake Swihart are both on the disabled list.

Ryan LaMarre pinch ran for Young and remained in the game to play left field.
