Portugal boss Santos refuses to talk about Ronaldo after Austria draw

Portugal boss Fernando Santos was willing to discuss any topic that reporters presented following Saturday's goalless draw against Austria, except for the one they all wanted to ask about.

Santos refused to answer a query about Cristiano Ronaldo during his post-match press conference, despite the Seleccao star being the topic du jour due to his missed penalty and handful of other chances he either spurned or had turned away by shot-stopper Robert Almer.

"I understand, but I don't talk about Cristiano Ronaldo please," he said, flatly.

Portugal dominated proceedings at the Parc des Princes, outshooting Austria 23-3, but could not find the tally needed to collect all three points. The result leaves the Group F favourite on just two points ahead of its opening round finale against Hungary.

"We can't wallow in our own misery. There is a final to play on the 22nd, our first final of these Euros," Santos added.

"When we talk about the team, we can't concentrate on how many missed chances we had - fair or unfair - this is football. It's unfair, that's true, but it's useless to discuss it now because the next match is a final for us."
