Fantasy: 12 players to buy right now in dynasty leagues

When you play dynasty, it's smart to look at every player like a stock. There is a price each player can be sold for and there are times when quality stocks are going for far too little on the market. Below is a list of the latter, broken into three categories.

Not Cheap, But Worth It

Devin Funchess

The upcoming return of Kelvin Benjamin might have soured dynasty players on Funchess to some degree. But this huge receiver, which is exactly what Carolina is looking to for at the position, is only 22 years old and all indications are that he has vastly improved since his rookie season. Cam Newton still has room to improve as a passer, which is frightening, and how long will Greg Olsen and Ted Ginn remain factors? Funchess' volume should only be increasing and his size lends itself to many touchdown catches going forward. Funchess won't remain "buyable" in dynasty for much longer, as this young man's future is very bright.

Duke Johnson

Johnson might not technically end up being the Browns' true lead back, but then again, he might. What we know for sure is that Cleveland will be losing an awful lot this year and will be playing from behind and that will mean a ton of Johnson, who is already proven as an excellent back in the passing game. He might be the best thing the Browns have going for them right now.

Others to Consider: Carlos Hyde

Will Cost You A Little, But Often Very Little

Joe Flacco

Even with uncertainty around Breshad Perriman's health (more on that later), the Ravens have an improved set of weapons and what should be a better offensive line to match with good receiving running backs. Marc Trestman has proven that his offenses are highly conducive to putting up big fantasy numbers. With Flacco still nursing his injury, now is the time to pick him up on the cheap as your backup/spot starter. He might develop into even more than that while costing you very little.

Bilal Powell

You heard it here first: Powell is going to lead the Jets in rushing in 2016. And he is also a very good receiver. Last year, Powell was extremely effective and New York was quick to lock him up. Yes, they also brought in Matt Forte, but it would be surprising if Forte remains effective for much longer. Also, Forte and the 27-year-old Powell are making very similar money when guaranteed dollars are taken into account. At worst, Powell is a change of pace back behind an aging star … and the cost to acquire him is minimal.

Torrey Smith

Smith might belong in the category above this one, but there are a lot of owners out there that have really soured on him. He is clearly the 49ers' top receiving target and is still only 27 years old. Chip Kelly’s offense features a lot of deep passing and Smith's numbers improved last year once Blaine Gabbert took over. Expect Smith to be Kelly's DeSean Jackson.

Shane Vereen

Paul Perkins is an impressive rookie back that could cut into Vereen's workload as a receiver, but it still seems likely that Vereen will be the primary receiving option out of this backfield. He's become a dynasty afterthought, but expect the Giants to call on him for quick-hitting routes, something Vereen excels at.

Mike Wallace

Wallace and his new quarterback in Baltimore are getting drafted right around the same area in start up drafts. Both could pay off huge for little risk. With Perriman's situation up in the air, not only could Wallace be a starter in Baltimore, but he has a clear role as Flacco's primary deep option. Throwing deep has been a staple of this offense with Flacco behind center and although it has been some time since we saw it, Wallace remains very dangerous in this capacity. He will cost you next to nothing.

Spencer Ware

With Jamaal Charles returning and Charcandrick West still very much in the picture, Ware has become the forgotten man in fantasy. That is a mistake, as he is Kansas City’s best short-yardage option as well as a very underrated ball carrier in his own right.

Others to Consider: Kenny Bell, Charles Clay, Jared Cook, DeAndre Smelter, Ryan Tannehill

Free/Get As A 'Throw In'

Blaine Gabbert

There is an excellent chance that Gabbert, who is far more athletic and a better runner than most tend to think, will be the 49ers' starting quarterback this year. Chip Kelly's quarterbacks put up fantasy numbers. That is all you need to know.

Rashad Greene

Everyone is super excited about Allen Robinson, Allen Hurns, and Blake Bortles in Jacksonville's now-formidable young offense, and they should be. But the Jaguars really don't have a true slot option on the roster other than Greene who, if you recall, was a tremendous asset to Jameis Winston at Florida State. As well as Bortles played last year, the young signal-caller could still really use a reliable underneath chain mover like Greene, who now has a niche role in an excellent offense.

Devin Smith

Smith might belong in the second category and was sought after just a year ago, but his stock has dropped dramatically since he was selected in rookie drafts. Still, Chan Gailey's offense utilizes a high percentage of three and even four wide receiver sets and outside of Eric Decker and Brandon Marshall, Smith is clearly the most promising wideout on the roster. Smith's ceiling is very high.

Damien Williams

We know that Jay Ajayi has knee issues and therefore Williams should be his immediate backup for the big-back work in Miami, an offense that looks vastly improved. Also, Williams is a highly accomplished receiving option and Kenyon Drake has a ton of work to do in pass protection. For the price (basically free), Williams, whose talent should not be overlooked, is the best target on this entire list. Sneak him off your waiver wire. It could really pay off during the season.

Others to Consider: Virgil Green, Charles Johnson, T.J. Jones, Vance McDonald, Brian Quick, Stevan Ridley, Terrell Watson, Albert Wilson
