Ex-TCU QB Zach Allen transferring to Rutgers

Tommy Gilligan-USA TODAY Sports

Former TCU quarterback Zach Allen announced Wednesday he is transferring to Rutgers.

Allen, a graduate transfer, will carry two years of eligibility with him to the Scarlet Knights, with whom he'll be able to play immediately.

"I really think these coaches are gonna bring a new era to Rutgers football and I'm gonna try to help them compete for a Big Ten championship," Allen told FOX Sports' Bruce Feldman.

Allen didn't see much playing time in his career with the Horned Frogs - his career stat line reads 2-for-2 for 17 yards - but could compete for reps at Rutgers, which is in dire need of quarterback help.

Allen made somewhat of a transition to wide receiver last year, catching one pass for eight yards, but it's believed he intends to play quarterback at Rutgers.
