Here are theScore's third baseman value rankings for Wednesday, May 25 (all stats exclude Tuesday's games):
Value Rankings

Top Options
| Name | Opponent | Value |
|---|---|---|
| Taylor Motter (TB) | vs. MIA | 8 |
| Josh Rutledge (BOS) | vs. COL | 8 |
| Brandon Drury (ARI) | at PIT | 8 |
| Manny Machado (BAL) | at HOU | 8 |
| Kyle Seager (SEA) | vs. OAK | 7 |
While not at the minimum price, Motter has homered in two of his three starts as a lefty-hitting specialist. Miami will start LHP Justin Nicolino, so Motter figures to lineup somewhere in the infield.
Rutledge may get another game in place of the day-to-day Travis Shaw, and has been productive in his spot starts this season.
Batting over .300 in his young career against left-handers, Drury draws hittable Pirates lefty Jeff Locke (5.00 ERA, four home runs allowed over his last three starts).
Mid-Tier Targets

| Name | Opponent | Value |
|---|---|---|
| Kris Bryant (CHC) | at STL | 7 |
| Adrian Beltre (TEX) | vs. LAA | 7 |
| Nick Castellanos (DET) | vs. PHI | 7 |
| Ty Kelly (NYM) | at WAS | 7 |
| Maikel Franco (PHI) | at DET | 7 |
| Nolan Arenado (COL) | at BOS | 6 |
| Yunel Escobar (LAA) | at TEX | 6 |
| Evan Longoria (TB) | vs. MIA | 6 |
| Todd Frazier (CWS) | vs. CLE | 6 |
| Anthony Rendon (WAS) | vs. NYM | 6 |
| Matt Duffy (SF) | vs. SD | 6 |
| Martin Prado (MIA) | at TB | 6 |
| Trevor Plouffe (MIN) | vs. KC | 6 |
| Jung Ho Kang (PIT) | vs. ARI | 6 |
| David Wright (NYM) | at WAS | 6 |
| Aaron Hill (MIL) | at ATL | 5 |
| Chase d'Arnaud (ATL) | vs. MIL | 5 |
| Javier Baez (CHC) | at STL | 5 |
| Justin Turner (LAD) | vs. CIN | 5 |
| Danny Valencia (OAK) | at SEA | 5 |
With two straight multi-hit games, including a home run and three RBIs, Franco looks to be breaking out of a barren stretch.
You can't argue with Kelly's price (the bare minimum) if he gets a start for the second game in a row. While he doesn't have much power, he was batting .391 in 35 Triple-A games.
While Tampa Bay's lefty-heavy roster could feast on the aforementioned Nicolino, the right-handed Longoria has seen a price spike but doesn't have the handedness advantage.
Nothing to See Here

| Name | Opponent | Value |
|---|---|---|
| Eugenio Suarez (CIN) | at LAD | 4 |
| Yangervis Solarte (SD) | at SF | 4 |
| Chase Headley (NYY) | vs. TOR | 4 |
| Luis Valbuena (HOU) | vs. BAL | 3 |
| Matt Carpenter (STL) | vs. CHC | 3 |
| Mike Moustakas (KC) | at MIN | 3 |
A start against Jake Arrieta severely limits Carpenter's value, even at a reduced price. The day-to-day Moustakas may not start.
