Report: Rockets to interview Spurs assistant Borrego
Add another name to the Houston Rockets' expansive coaching search.
The Rockets have reportedly scheduled an interview with San Antonio Spurs assistant James Borrego, according to ESPN's Marc Stein.
Borrego, who is also rumored to be a finalist for the Memphis Grizzlies' vacancy, sports a 10-20 record as an NBA head coach after taking over the Orlando Magic on an interim basis upon Jacque Vaughn's firing in 2015.
Borrego's coaching career has taken him from the University of San Diego to San Antonio, New Orleans, Orlando, and finally back to the Spurs again in 2015-16.
It was reported earlier on Friday that Mike D'Antoni and Stephen Silas were considered front-runners for the Rockets job.
With Nate McMillan taking over in Indiana, Jeff Hornacek surprisingly landing in New York, and Frank Vogel heading to Orlando, that leaves Houston and Memphis as the final two vacancies for prospective candidates.
