Moritz Boehringer became the first player drafted into the NFL straight from Europe and now he's the first member of the league's 2016 rookie class to sign his contract.
The Minnesota Vikings inked the German wide receiver Monday after selecting him with the 180th pick in the draft Saturday.
Boehringer was interviewed on NFL Network just before being taken by the Vikings, with analyst Mike Mayock imploring his friend and Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer to take a chance on the unproven prospect.
Working out at Florida Atlantic's pro day in March, the 6-foot-4, 229-pound Boehringer ran the 40-yard dash in 4.43 seconds.
