Report: Myles Jack to collect insurance policy if drafted after 45th pick
Myles Jack's slide out of the first round might have been the most surprising result of the first round if it wasn't for the actions of a certain set of social media accounts.
If Jack slides through the middle of the second round, he could actually start to benefit from it financially.
ESPN's Darren Rovell reports that Jack's mother took out a $5-million loss-of-value insurance policy during his sophomore season at UCLA. If the linebacker falls past the 45th overall selection, he will start to collect $60,000 per pick with a cap of $5 million.
If he slips into the third round, he will collect over $1 million from his insurance company on top of his rookie salary.
Notre Dame linebacker Jaylon Smith has a similar insurance policy, capped at $5 million. If Smith is the first pick of the second round, he will collect $700,000 and then an additional $100,000 for every pick after that. Smith is projected to be a third-round pick after suffering a knee injury in January.
