Bayer Leverkusen's Chicharito shoots down Bayern Munich rumours

Despite meeting with Carlo Ancelotti while on international duty, Bayer Leverkusen forward Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez has denied rumours linking him with a move to Bayern Munich.

The Mexican international met with the future Bayern boss during the country's match in Canada last month, but says he was simply having a friendly chat with Ancelotti, who was his manager at Real Madrid during his season on loan with the Spanish giants from Manchester United.

His goal-scoring output with Bayer Leverkusen has attracted plenty of attention, but Chicharito insisted he's happy at the club and explained why joining a club such as Bayern won't guarantee trophies.

"I saw him (Ancelotti) while I was in Vancouver with the national team to face Canada, yes," Chicharito told France Football, with translation from ESPN FC.

"But we simply greeted each other and he spoke a bit with my wife. The rest are just rumours," Hernandez said. "I have always chosen competitive clubs at which there existed the possibility of winning championships. With Manchester United over four years, they won the Premier League title during two of those years, but the other two seasons they won nothing.

"While I was at Madrid, we won nothing. Being on the best team doesn't guarantee you any titles. Even Barcelona are susceptible to having seasons in blank. Sometimes clubs surprise us, such as Leicester this year. They are on the verge of making history. They are a good example."

Chicharito leads his team with 17 goals, a mark that ranks fourth among all scorers, during his first season in the Bundesliga.
