Report: Manchester United eyeing Oxlade-Chamberlain move

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is emerging as one of the most sought-after signatures of the summer transfer window, after Manchester United apparently joined the pursuit of the Arsenal winger.

Injuries and poor form have seen the 22-year-old fall down the pecking order in North London, a situation that's reportedly alerted Manchester City, Liverpool, and now United, according to ESPN FC's Peter O'Rourke.

Oxlade-Chamberlain returned to training on Saturday after a knee ligament injury that sidelined him for two months, but Arsene Wenger expressed caution when asked if he can feature over the remaining matches of this campaign.

The recent regular outings of Nigerian teenager Alex Iwobi have further shunted Oxlade-Chamberlain out of the first-team picture, and Joel Campbell has also been enjoying more minutes in red this term. Theo Walcott has been handed cameos off the bench in each of Arsenal's last five outings.

Oxlade-Chamberlain's lack of opportunities appear to see him out of contention for England's Euro 2016 squad, too - a situation which is understood to have the former Southampton man open to a transfer in search of regular game time.

At United, Oxlade-Chamberlain would offer competition to a role that has often been left to Juan Mata in a narrow midfield, with Anthony Martial recently working on the other flank while Marcus Rashford operates as a lone forward.
