Detroit Tigers manager Brad Ausmus convinced umpires to investigate the band around the finger of Cleveland Indians pitcher Bryan Shaw. Following their meeting, they concluded Shaw is married.

Ausmus tried to make something out of nothing, causing a stir with not one, but two visits to get umpires on the same page as him. His argument was that Shaw was using the rubber ring to scuff the ball.

Shaw said he hasn't found a way to do it, and the way he sees it, the struggling Tigers were trying to ruffle some feathers in an effort to get him off his game.

The pitcher told MLB.com's Jordan Bastian that when he saw Ausmus come out the second time, he told the manager, "I'll take it off to make you happy. Go back to the dugout so we can finish the game."

Shaw added: "I've pitched against them with it on for the past two and a half years. They seem to be struggling a little bit, so I think he's just trying to find something to nitpick about to try to throw us off."
