Former New England Patriots defensive tackle Ron Brace died Saturday at the age of 29, the team announced Sunday.

Brace was a second-round pick out of Boston College in 2009 and played with the Patriots for four seasons before spending the 2013 offseason with the Washington Redskins.

Brace achieved second-team All-ACC honors during his senior season at BC, recording 27 tackles and three sacks playing alongside future Green Bay Packers defensive tackle B.J. Raji.

No cause of death was disclosed.

Brace has been recognized by many for his sense of humor and big smile, and the Massachusetts native was honored by former teammates on social media on Sunday:

Gone but never forgotten.. Miss you already bro. Rest easy. #RIP
