Report: Scott Brooks is Wizards' 'top priority' for coaching job

Several NBA teams are in the market for a new head coach, and former Oklahoma City Thunder bench boss Scott Brooks is seemingly already on all of those teams' radars.

Having been tied to the vacancies in Minnesota, Houston, and New York, Brooks is considered the 'top priority' of the Washington Wizards, sources told The Vertical's Adrian Wojnarowski.

The Wizards, who are also said to be interested in former Phoenix Suns coach Jeff Hornacek, fired Randy Wittman after a disappointing 41-41 season.

Brooks sat out the 2015-16 season after being let go by the Thunder following a successful (if something) seven-year run. He's been criticized in the past for his oft-staid, unimaginative offensive sets, but he proved himself in Oklahoma City to be a terrific player developer. He also has close ties to impending free agent and D.C. native Kevin Durant, who the Wizards still harbor hopes (however remote) of luring this summer.

The .620 winning percentage Brooks racked up with the Thunder ranks ninth in history among coaches who've been on the bench for at least five seasons.
