Watch: Ortiz turns on jets to steal rare base

Bob DeChiara / USA TODAY Sports

Clearly, the magic of Jackie Robinson Day inspired David Ortiz to steal his first base since July 21, 2013, off Toronto Blue Jays reliever Joe Biagini in the seventh inning Friday.

The Boston Red Sox designated hitter, who now has 16 career thefts, is just the fourth player aged 40 or older in franchise history to steal a bag, joining Rickey Henderson, Ted Williams, and Cy Young in club lore.

Big Papi's farewell tour is off to a fabulous start. He's hitting .333/.444/.800 with three homers and 10 RBIs in eight contests.
