Here are theScore's shortstop value rankings for Sunday, April 10:

Value Rankings

Top Options

NAME OPPONENT VALUE
Carlos Correa (HOU) at MIL 9
Trevor Story (COL) vs. SD 8

Correa is truly the best option at shortstop. Story may be grabbing the headlines, but Correa's well-rounded style is worth paying for.

Ownership levels will surely be high on Story. But a matchup against James Shields, who surrendered the most homers in the MLB last year, is hard to resist. Coors Field obviously increases the potential for another homer.

Mid-Tier Targets

NAME OPPONENT VALUE
Elvis Andrus (TEX) at LAA 7
Starlin Castro (NYY) at DET 6
Eugenio Suarez (CIN) vs. PIT 6
Alcides Escobar (KC) vs. MIN 6
Xander Bogaerts (BOS) at TOR 6
Zack Cozart (CIN) vs. PIT 6
Brandon Crawford (SF) vs. LAD 6
J.J. Hardy (BAL) vs. TB 6
Didi Gregorius (NYY) at DET 6

Andrus has 52 at-bats under his belt against Angels starter Jered Weaver over the last five years. He has a .327 average through those matchups.

Castro opened the season with hits in three straight games including one four-hit performance. His salary is relatively cheap, but a matchup against Justin Verlander is not ideal.

NAME OPPONENT VALUE
Francisco Lindor (CLE) at CWS 5
Corey Seager (LAD) at SF 5
Addison Russell (CHC) at ARI 5
Eduardo Escobar (MIN) at KC 5
Jean Segura (ARI) vs. CHC 5
Jordy Mercer (PIT) at CIN 5
Jimmy Rollins (CWS) vs. CLE 5
Ketel Marte (SEA) vs. OAK 5
Ian Desmond (TEX) vs. LAA 5
Troy Tulowitzki (TOR) vs. BOS 5
Adeiny Hechavarria (MIA) at WAS 5
Jose Iglesias (DET) vs. NYY 5

Segura has come out of the gates firing. He has five multi-hit games to open the season and has been providing immense value at shortstop. Unfortunately, this unstoppable object looks to be running into a brick wall in Jake Arrieta Sunday. In his Opening Day start, Arrieta gave up just two hits. In their career matchup, Segura is just 3-for-17 against the Chicago phenom.

Tulowitzki has two hits through five games this year. His salary is simply too high to invest in such a cold start. His position in the Blue Jays lineup does salvage some value.

Nothing to See Here

NAME OPPONENT VALUE
Alexei Ramirez (SD) at COL 4
Jonathan Villar (MIL) vs. HOU 4
Freddy Galvis (PHI) at NYM 4
Jedd Gyorko (STL) at ATL 4
Aledmys Diaz (STL) at ATL 4
Andrelton Simmons (LAA) vs. TEX 3
Erick Aybar (ATL) vs. STL 3
Asdrubal Cabrera (NYM) vs. PHI 3
Jed Lowrie (OAK) vs. SEA 3
Ryan Goins (TOR) vs. BOS 3
Brad Miller (TB) at BAL 3
Chris Owings (ARI) vs. CHC 3
Jose Ramirez (CLE) at CWS 3
Wilmer Flores (NYM) vs. PHI 3
Marcus Semien (OAK) at SEA 2

It is a long list of unworthy players. DFS players should really be spending up at shortstop due to lack of consistent production.

Lowrie is likely the most reputable name here, but his matchup against Felix Hernandez has not been kind to him throughout his career. He is nine-for-37 in his career with just two extra-base hits.
