Mark Richt plans to continue coaching: 'Oh yeah, no doubt'

At the end of a 15-year career with Georgia, Bulldogs head coach Mark Richt held his weekly press conference Monday.

Richt was relieved of his coaching duties Sunday after he and the team mutually agreed to part ways.

Widely regarded as one of the best coaches in the SEC, Richt likely won't have trouble finding work, and he has every intention of continuing to coach.

"Oh yeah, no doubt," Richt said. "I'm going to listen to anybody that's interested in talking to me."

The 55-year-old compiled a 145-51 record in his time at Georgia, leading the Bulldogs to six SEC East division titles. Still, he was disappointed he couldn't do more.

"I just think that 15 years is a long time," Richt said. "I think the expectations have been built to the point that if you don't win a championship it's kind of miserable around here. If we don't make it to (the SEC championship game in) Atlanta, I'm miserable, too.

"If things don't go the way people ... want them to go, I can understand people being disappointed and thinking there's a better way. I respect that. I think it got to the point where there wasn't enough confidence in my leadership to get it done. That's the prerogative of the people in charge, and I understand that."

Richt will still have the opportunity to coach Georgia in its upcoming bowl game.
