Report: Miami's Coley investigated for potential NCAA violation

Charles LeClaire / USA TODAY Sports

Miami's investigation into possible NCAA infractions involving their players and a luxury car rental agency now includes wide receiver Stacy Coley, a source told Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald.

The Hurricanes have spent the past several weeks looking into relationships between their student-athletes and South Beach Exotic Rentals, a rental car company that allegedly gifted vehicles in exchange for future promises - a clear violation of NCAA rules.

Miami suspended linebacker Juwon Young in June for his potential involvement in the scheme, and has been investigating linebacker Jermaine Grace and defensive end Al-Quadin Muhammad for their possible roles as well.

If directly connected to the potential scandal - which doesn't necessarily have anything to do with Miami, per se - Coley would become the biggest name involved, and could face discipline.

Coley, a senior, has 103 career receptions for 1,464 yards and 11 touchdowns, a large chunk of that coming last season. He's expected to be a major contributor again this year, after choosing to return for his senior season rather than declare early for the NFL draft.
