Report: Alabama's Brown to have suspension reduced to 4 games

Alabama defensive back Tony Brown is expected to have two games knocked off his original six-game suspension from the NCAA, sources told Matt Zenitz of AL.com.

Brown was suspended indefinitely in April for an unknown violation, and his ban was later reported to be for the first six games of the 2016 season. At the time, head coach Nick Saban acknowledged Brown had landed in some trouble, but refused to elaborate on the situation.

"When I get the final data on that, I'll let you know," Saban said at the time.

A sophomore last year, Brown was a special-teams star for the Crimson Tide last season but has yet to live up to the expectations that come with being a five-star recruit, as he once was.

Brown is expected to compete for playing time in Alabama's secondary in nickle and dime packages once he's reinstated.
