NCAA Game Summary - BYU at Nevada
Reno, NV (SportsNetwork.com) - Jamaal Williams rushed for 219 yards and a touchdown on only 15 carries as the BYU Cougars closed out the regular season with a 28-23 victory over the Nevada Wolf Pack at Mackay Stadium.
Taysom Hill added 154 yards and a score on 26 carries for BYU (8-5) and also threw for 98 yards and two touchdowns on 14-of-18 passing.
Cody Fajardo threw for 259 yards and a touchdown to match an interception on 23-of-33 passing for Nevada (4-8). Brandon Wimberly tallied 10 receptions for 117 yards and a score and Kendall Brock tacked on 56 yards and a touchdown on 14 carries.
Brock opened up the scoring with a two-yard touchdown run early on in the first quarter. Neither team was able to score again before halftime.
Williams ended the scoring drought early in the third quarter with a 66-yard touchdown run.
Fajardo responded with a three-yard touchdown run of his own less than five minutes later.
Hill would add a 10-yard touchdown pass to Kanaeaku Friel before the frame came to a close, as both teams entered the final period, tied at 14-14.
Hill threw a three-yard touchdown pass to JD Falslev in the opening minute of the fourth quarter.
Nevada answered with a 24-yard field goal from Brent Zuzo but Hill found the end zone on a 55-yard touchdown run less than three minutes later.
Fajardo connected with Wimberly on a four-yard scoring toss with just under three minutes to play but the Wolf Pack did not get the ball back as BYU ran out the clock.
