NCAA Game Summary - North Texas at Tulsa

Tulsa, OK (SportsNetwork.com) - Brandin Byrd rushed for a career-high 251 yards as the North Texas Mean Green crushed the Tulsa Golden Hurricane, 42-10, in a Conference USA matchup at Chapman Stadium.

Byrd also had three touchdowns on 26 carries for North Texas (8-4, 6-2 C-USA). Derek Thompson threw for 173 yards and an interception on 17-of-26 passing as well. Darnell Smith had three catches and 51 yards.

Tulsa (3-9, 2-6) had Cody Green and Dane Evans share time at quarterback. Green went 3-of-8 for 27 yards with two interceptions. Evans threw for 76 yards and went 9-of-24 passing. Trey Watts ran the ball 19 times for 114 yards. Keevan Lucas had 42 yards on four receptions.

Tulsa got on the board first after Will Barrow returned a fumble 97 yards for a touchdown.

North Texas would answer back with a 12-yard touchdown rush by Antoinne Jimmerson.

Carl Salazar made a 26-yard field goal with 42 seconds left in the first quarter to make it 10-7 in favor of Tulsa.

Jarrian Roberts returned a blocked punt eight yards for a touchdown and with just 1:05 remaining before the break Byrd had a 10-yard touchdown run to put the Mean Green up 21-10.

Byrd scored again, this time on a 91-yard touchdown run with 11:25 left in the third stanza.Byrd added a two-yard touchdown run later in the period.

Jimmerson rushed 31 yards for a touchdown with 6:56 remaining to account for the 42-10 final.

The Mean Green had more rushing yards (377) than the Golden Hurricane had total yards (236).
