NCAA Game Summary - Temple at Memphis

Memphis, TN (SportsNetwork.com) - P.J. Walker threw for 328 yards and four touchdowns, as the Temple Owls closed out their season with a 41-21 win over the Memphis Tigers in American Athletic Conference play at Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium.

Walker also ran for 59 yards in the win, while Jamie Gilmore paced Temple's ground game with 92 yards on 16 carries. Robby Anderson caught three of Walker's TD passes and finished with 96 yards on seven catches to help the Owls (2-10, 1-7 AAC) notch their first-ever AAC victory. Chris Coyer had three catches for 129 yards and a score.

Paxton Lynch completed 19-of-29 passes for 162 yards and a touchdown for the Tigers (3-8, 1-6), while Sam Craft had seven catches for 62 yards and scored three times (two rushing, one receiving).

The Owls got on the scoreboard first as Nick Visco kicked a 22-yard field goal at the 2:22 mark of the opening frame, capping a 12-play, 93-yard drive.

Temple put together another 12-play drive in the second quarter, and this time Walker finished it off with a one-yard touchdown pass to Anderson to make it a 10-0 game.

Memphis answered with a one-yard touchdown plunge by Craft on the third play of the ensuing possession. The Tigers took over that series at the Temple 30 thanks to Joe Craig's 56-yard kick return.

The Owls stretched the margin to 17-7 following Walker's 11-yard scoring strike to Anderson with just 20 seconds to play in the half.

Memphis struck first in the second half, as Lynch found Craft for a 10-yard touchdown pass to cut the deficit to 17-14.

However, Temple responded on its very next play from scrimmage, as Walker connected with Coyer for a 75-yard scoring strike.

Temple's defense forced a three-and-out on the next series, and Sharif Finch blocked the punt and teammate Michael Felton recovered the ball in the end zone to put the Owls on top, 31-14.

Memphis answered with a 12-play, 62-yard drive, punctuated by Craft's third touchdown of the day on a three-yard run.

But the Owls were able to pad their lead in the fourth quarter. Visco kicked a 19-yard field goal at the 10:26 mark, and Anderson caught his third touchdown pass of the day from Walker with 4:33 to play, this time from 21 yards to make it a 20-point game.

Temple held a sizeable 534-228 edge in total offense on the day.
