NCAA Game Summary - Tennessee at Kentucky

Lexington, KY (SportsNetwork.com) - Joshua Dobbs threw for 199 yards and two touchdowns for the Tennessee Volunteers as they dropped the Kentucky Wildcats, 27-14, in an SEC matchup at Commonwealth Stadium.

Dobbs completed 14-of-23 pass attempts for the Volunteers (5-7, 2-6 SEC) and found suitable receiving targets in Jason Croom (two receptions, 74 yards, TD) and Devrin Young (four receptions, 66 yards, TD). Rajion Neal rushed for 134 yards and a touchdown on 20 carries, and Dobbs also had a solid day rushing (52 yards, TD).

Maxwell Smith completed 25-of-38 pass attempts for the Wildcats (2-10, 0-8), good for 254 yards and two touchdowns. Dyshawn Mobley picked up 143 yards on 17 carries.

Neal wasted no time getting the scoring started for the Volunteers, running 60 yards for a touchdown on the opening drive.

In the final minute of the first quarter, Tennessee padded its lead after a 43-yard touchdown pass from Dobbs to Croom, making it 14-0.

Midway through the second quarter, the Volunteers got another big touchdown run, this one from Dobbs, who scrambled 40 yards for the score. After a missed extra point, it was 20-0.

With 1:45 left in the first half, Kentucky got on the scoreboard after a 19- yard touchdown pass from Smith to Anthony Kendrick, making the score 20-7 at the break.

Tennessee opened the second-half scoring with just over three minutes left in the third quarter on a seven-yard touchdown pass from Dobbs to Young.

With UK making a bid to stay in the game, Smith connected with Javess Blue on a 14-yard touchdown pass to make the score 27-14 with 3:41 left to play. This, however, would be the final scoring play of the night.

The Volunteers accumulated 417 total yards to the Wildcats' 393. Despite having more time of possession, Kentucky was only able to convert 5-of-14 third-down opportunities.
