NCAA Game Summary - Iowa at Purdue

West Lafayette, IN (SportsNetwork.com) - Jordan Canzeri ran for a career-high 165 yards and a touchdown, as the Iowa Hawkeyes toppled the Purdue Boilermakers, 38-14, in Big Ten Conference play at Ross-Ade Stadium.

Jake Rudock completed 12-of-20 passes for 191 yards and two touchdowns for the Hawkeyes (6-4, 3-3 Big Ten), who are now bowl eligible after losing three of their previous four outings.

The Boilermakers (1-8, 0-5) were coming off back-to-back shutout losses for the first time since 1953, and while they did put 14 points on the board, it was not enough to avoid a seventh straight defeat. Danny Etling threw for 145 yards and a touchdown on 15-of-28 passing.

After a scoreless first quarter, Iowa took a 7-0 lead on Canzeri's two-yard touchdown run, which capped a nine-play, 90-yard drive.

Purdue tied the score on Etling's two-yard touchdown pass to Kurt Freytag at the 5:44 mark of the second quarter.

Iowa regained the lead with just under two minutes to play in the opening half, as Rudock connected with Kevonte Martin-Manley for a 22-yard touchdown pass.

A four-yard TD run by Iowa's Mark Weisman represented the only points of the third quarter.

The Hawkeyes began to seize control in the final frame. Mike Meyer kicked a 28-yard field goal at the 11:48 mark, and then Iowa padded its lead with two more touchdowns. Rudock found Jake Duzey for a three-yard scoring strike with six and a half minutes to play, and C.J. Beathard scored on a five-yard run with 2:48 remaining.

Purdue's Danny Anthrop caught a 44-yard touchdown pass from backup quarterback Austin Appleby with 51 seconds to play to account for the final margin.

Iowa tallied 509 total yards and 318 rushing yards, both season-highs. Conversely, Purdue gained only 12 first downs and finished with 266 yards of total offense.
