NCAA Game Summary - Army at Air Force

USAFA, CO (SportsNetwork.com) - Behind 263 rushing yards from Anthony LaCoste, the Air Force Falcons defeated the Army Black Knights, 42-28, as part of the Commander-in-Chief's Trophy series at Falcon Stadium.

The Falcons (2-7) were able to secure their first win this season against a Football Bowl Subdivision opponent. Quarterback Nate Romine went 7-of-8 passing for 111 yards and added a score on the ground. LaCoste ran the ball 23 times and had three touchdowns to go with his high yardage total. Garrett Brown led all receivers with four catches and 78 yards.

The Black Knights (3-6) were coming off a bye but were unable to capitalize against a struggling Air Force team. Angel Santiago completed 8-of-14 passes for 109 yards, and he also ran for three touchdowns. Army's top rusher was Terry Baggett, who ran the ball 20 times for 121 yards and a touchdown. Xavier Moss paced the receiving corps with 35 yards on three catches.

Army received the opening kickoff and drove 75 yards in nine plays. Santiago finished off the drive with a four-yard touchdown run to stake the visitors an early 7-0 lead.

Air Force evened things up on its second play from scrimmage, as LaCoste broke free for a 73-yard touchdown run.

The Black Knights answered with a 16-play, 75-yard drive, capped by Santiago's one-yard touchdown plunge to make it a 14-7 game.

The Falcons answered back to tie the game up again on Brown's 14-yard touchdown rush.

Santiago kept it going on the ground and scored on a one-yard touchdown run to put the Black Knights ahead by a touchdown with just under two minutes left in the half.

Air Force was able to get the score tied going into the half. Romine finished off a late Falcons drive with a one-yard touchdown rush with only 11 seconds remaining until the break.

A 78-yard touchdown run by LaCoste marked the only points of the third quarter and put Air Force on top, 28-21.

Brown caught a 28-yard pass from Romine to set up Air Force's next score. LaCoste was able to punch it from one yard out and extend the Falcons' lead to 35-21 with 14:45 to play in regulation.

A Baggett 10-yard touchdown rush brought the Black Knights within seven with 5:58 remaining in the contest.

However, Broam Hart was able finish off the Black Knights with his 3-yard touchdown rush with 3:41 left to make it a two-score game.

This win snaps Air Force's seven-game losing streak that started after the Falcons' season-opening win against Colgate. As for the Black Knights, this is their third loss in four games.

LaCoste came into Saturday with 341 yards on the ground for the entire year, and he was 78 yards shy of matching that total in this tilt.
