NCAA Game Summary - Toledo at Bowling Green

Bowling Green, OH (SportsNetwork.com) - Terrance Owens threw three touchdown passes as the Toledo Rockets escaped with a 28-25 victory over the Bowling Green Falcons in a Mid-American Conference battle at Doyt Perry Stadium.

Owens completed 15-of-23 pass attempts for just 130 yards but also added 59 yards on the ground for Toledo (5-3, 3-1 MAC). Alonzo Russell had eight catches for 56 yards and a pair of scores and Kareem Hunt picked up 114 yards and a touchdown on 21 carries. The Rockets have won five of their last six games.

For Bowling Green (5-3, 3-1) Travis Green rushed for 96 yards and two touchdowns on 19 carries. Matt Johnson added a rushing score of his own and also threw for 208 yards on 17-of-26 passing. Heath Jackson brought in seven passes for 72 yards.

Hunt scored the first points of the game for the Rockets with a one-yard touchdown run to finish off Toledo's opening possession.

Toledo struck again early in the second quarter with a five-yard touchdown pass from Owens to Russell.

Owens threw his second touchdown pass of the game a little more than four minutes later on a nine-yard connection with Bernard Reedy.

Bowling Green wouldn't go quietly into the intermission as Johnson scored on a one-yard touchdown run 24 seconds before halftime.

The Falcons then pulled themselves to within 11 points with a 23-yard field goal from Tyler Tate midway through the third quarter.

The rally continued early in the fourth period when Greene ran it in for a seven-yard touchdown. The Falcons ensuing two-point conversion attempt was successful, slashing the Rockets' lead to 21-18.

Greene then carried Bowling Green into the lead when he scored on another seven-yard touchdown run with just under six minutes to play.

However, Toledo was able to escape from the jaws of defeat thanks to an 11- yard touchdown pass from Owens to Russell with just over a minute to play.
