Morning Wrap-up: Calipari may want out; Traevon Jackson makes a declaration
Every day during the NCAA Tournament, theScore brings you the biggest, most interesting and most important stories as they happen. Check back each morning for a recap of what you may have missed the day before. It's okay, it's March Madness. There's a lot going on.
The madness makes its return after a three-day layoff as the Sweet Sixteen kicks off today.
Although there hasn't been a basket scored since Sunday, the world of college basketball still continues to spin. Here's a look at the things that occurred Wednesday heading into today's slate of games.
Is this the last tournament for Coach Cal?
Kentucky may be experiencing its last days with its leader.
A report came out Wednesday alleging coach John Calipari wants to try his hand at coaching in the NBA again.
"He desperately wants it," the report said.
As the Wildcats prepare for West Virginia on Thursday, expect this to be one of the top storylines surrounding the game. Matter of fact, this could turn out to be the story of the tournament.
Perhaps Calipari is taking his missing out on Monday's USBWA award for Coach of the Year particularly hard.
Daxter Miles Jr. pokes the beast
Another storyline surrounding the Wildcats/Mountaineers game is the mouth of freshman Daxter Miles Jr.
For some reason, the 6-foot-3, 185-pounder called out Kentucky on Wednesday:
As expected, Miles's comments got the attention of his opponents:
The freshman guard could either be crazy for providing college basketball's most dominant team with bulletin board material, or he's Nostradamus incarnate. It all remains to be seen though.
Guess who's back?!
Wisconsin got some good news from a pretty trustworthy source.
Badgers guard Traevon Jackson ruled himself healthy enough to make his long-awaited return from a fractured foot, which sidelined him for 19 games.
The first-ranked Badgers are set to meet fourth-ranked North Carolina.
Kennedy Meeks watch
Tar Heels forward Kennedy Meeks remains a game-time decision as the team wants to see the sophomore's performance during Wednesday's practice before making a decision.
Here's a look at what to expect if the 6-foot-9, 280-pounder does indeed take the court against the Badgers:
Wisconsin does L.A.
As the Badgers head into their game against the Tar Heels, they took over Los Angeles over the past few days.
First it was Frank "The Tank" Kaminsky meeting the original Frank the Tank, Will Ferrell, on Tuesday:
Then the Badgers got to meet Kobe Bryant. Well, sort of:
And finally, guard Nigel Hayes was up to his old tricks, having some fun with words at the expense of a tournament stenographer during his team's press conference. But don't worry, he got his comeuppance:
