NCAA Game Summary - Morehead State at Illinois State

Normal, IL (SportsNetwork.com) - Daishon Knight netted 18 points and grabbed five rebounds as the Illinois State Redbirds defeated the Morehead State Eagles, 77-67, in the first round of the College Basketball Invitational at Redbird Arena.

Bobby Hunter scored 16 points and made 8-of-10 from the free-throw line for Illinois State (17-15), which will advance to the second round of the CBI to face Texas A&M. Nick Zeisloft chipped in 13 points in the win, and Reggie Lynch tallied 12 points with a team-high eight rebounds.

Kareem Storey scored 19 points to lead Morehead State (20-14), adding five assists to his stat line. Angelo Warner netted 14 points with six rebounds and four steals, and Brent Arrington contributed 13 points in the loss.

Illinois State connected on 37 percent of its field goal attempts in the first half, and hit 9-of-13 from the free-throw line which helped the team take a 33-25 lead over Morehead State into the intermission. The Eagles hit 39.1 percent from the floor in the frame, but only made 4-of-9 from the charity stripe.

The Redbirds upped their shooting accuracy to 40 percent in the second half, and shot an impressive 20-of-27 from the foul line. Morehead State hit 37.8 percent of its shot tries in the period, but couldn't make up any ground en route to the 10-point loss.

Illinois State outscored Morehead State from the free-throw line, 29-13, and held a 15-9 advantage in bench scoring. The Eagles just barely edged out the Redbirds in rebounding, 40-37.
