NCAA Game Summary - San Diego at Sam Houston State

Huntsville, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - Christopher Anderson scored 19 points and handed out 10 assists to lead the San Diego Toreros to a 77-72 victory over the Sam Houston State Bearkats in the second round of the CollegeInsider.com Tournament at Bernard Johnson Coliseum.

Anderson shot 4-of-5 from 3-point range for San Diego (18-16) as it moves on to the quarterfinals to play an opponent yet to be determined. Johnny Dee tallied 15 points, six rebounds and six assists, Dennis Kramer scored 13 and Duda Sanadze netted 12 off the bench.

For Sam Houston State (24-11), Jabari Peters logged 18 points, seven rebounds and five assists, Paul Baxter registered 16 points and seven assists, while James Thomas and Kaheem Ransom finished with 14 and 10 points, respectively.

San Diego ran out to a 38-28 lead at intermission after shooting 54.2 percent from the field in the first half. Sam Houston State, meanwhile, made good on just 41.7 percent of its tries from the floor in the opening stanza.

The Bearkats opened the second half on a 13-4 run to cut their deficit to just one and would take the lead later in the frame. Sam Houston State continued to lead in the final minute until Anderson converted a three-point play to give San Diego a lead it would never surrender. Anderson stepped up his play late in the game, scoring 13 points in the final 5:30 of action.

San Diego finished the contest shooting 58.7 percent from the field, including 9-of-17 from 3-point range.
