NCAA Game Summary - Mount St. Mary's at Wagner

Staten Island, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Rashad Whack scored 21 points, as the No. 4 seed Mount St. Mary's Mountaineers earned a 77-72 win over the second- seeded Wagner Seahawks in semifinal-round action of the Northeast Conference Tournament at the Spiro Sports Center.

Sam Prescott and Julian Norfleet chipped in with 16 points apiece for the Mountaineers (15-16), who will await top-seed Robert Morris in Tuesday's Championship Game. Gregory Graves contributed 12 points and seven rebounds off the bench in the win.

The Seahawks (19-12) saw their nine-game win streak come to a halt, despite a game-high 26 points from Kenneth Ortiz. Marcus Burton finished with 13 points off the bench to round out the double-figure scorers.

Mount St. Mary's shot a healthy 50 percent from the floor in the first half and closed out the period with an 8-0 spurt to take a 35-31 lead into the break.

The Mountaineers never trailed in the second stanza, although Wagner hung around and made things awfully interesting down the stretch. Trailing by three with 19 seconds remaining, Ortiz missed a 3-pointer and Whack grabbed the rebound. Whack went on to make four free throws in the final seconds to seal the outcome.

The Mount shot an even 50 percent from the floor in each half.
