NCAA Game Summary - Arkansas-Pine Bluff at Texas Southern

Houston, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - Aaric Murray finished with a game-high 34 points to lead the Texas Southern Tigers to a 72-71 victory over the Arkansas- Pine Bluff Golden Lions in a Southwestern Athletic Conference tilt at H&PE Arena.

D'Angelo Scott added 11 points for Texas Southern (9-10, 5-2 SWAC), which has won four of its last five.

Marcel Mosley and Daniel Broughton each finished with 17 points for Arkansas- Pine Bluff (4-15, 2-5). Tevin Hammond chipped in 15 points and eight assists and Davon Haynes and Ghiavonni Robinson had 11 points apiece. The Golden Lions have lost five straight.

Texas Southern clung to a 34-32 lead at halftime by shooting 48.2 percent from the floor in the first half. Arkansas-Pine Bluff hit on only 42.9 percent from the field in the period, but that included a 7-of-12 showing from beyond the arc.

The Golden Lions nailed another seven 3-pointers in the second half to keep pace with the Tigers, who connected on 50 percent from the floor overall. Madarious Gibbs hit a pair of free-throws with 1:10 to play that pushed the Tigers ahead by a single point. The Golden Lions had three chances to reclaim the lead, but each of their field goal attempts in the final minute were off the mark.

Texas Southern had a 21-12 scoring edge off of turnovers and a 44-22 advantage on points in the paint.
