NCAA Game Summary - Texas State at South Alabama

Mobile, AL (SportsNetwork.com) - Augustine Rubit tallied a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds to lead the South Alabama Jaguars past the Texas State Bobcats, 63-53, in Sun Belt Conference action at the Mitchell Center.

Rubit also added four steals and two blocks for South Alabama (10-20, 4-13 Sun Belt), which snapped a two-game losing streak. Antoine Allen pitched in 13 points for the hosts.

For Texas State (8-22, 4-13), losers of four in a row, Joel Wright netted 21 points and hauled in nine boards.

Despite shooting just 33.3 percent from the field in the first half, South Alabama opened up a comfortable 31-18 lead at intermission by holding Texas State to a meager 27.6 percent shooting.

The Bobcats improved their field goal shooting to 58.3 percent in the second half and cut their deficit to just four following a Wright layup with 5:12 remaining, but they would get no closer.

Texas State was plagued by 19 turnovers, which South Alabama converted into 17 points. The Jaguars committed just nine miscues themselves.
