NCAA Game Summary - South Alabama at Louisiana

Lafayette, LA (SportsNetwork.com) - Bryant Mbamalu tallied 32 points and 11 rebounds as the Louisiana Rajin' Cajuns used an offensive explosion to propel themselves past the South Alabama Jaguars, 102-76, in a Sun Belt Conference showdown at the Cajundome.

Mbamalu connected on 10-of-19 shooting from the field, including 5-of-7 from 3-point range for Louisiana (19-10, 10-6 SBC). Shawn Long also notched a double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds, and J.J. Davenport chipped in 11 points off the bench. The Ragin' Cajuns have won seven of their last eight contests.

Ken Williams netted 24 points, hitting 5-of-7 from 3-point distance to pace South Alabama (9-20, 3-13). Augustine Rubit contributed 17 points with nine rebounds and four blocked shots, and Barrington Stevens scored 18 points in the loss. The Jaguars have dropped three of their past four games.

Louisiana was on fire in the first half, netting 58.3 percent of its shot attempts from the floor, including 4-of-7 from 3-point range. The Cajuns took a commanding 52-27 lead into the intermission after South Alabama hit 32 percent of its shots in the frame.

The Ragin' Cajuns didn't slow down at all in the second half. Louisiana connected on 66.7 percent of its tries from the field, and hit 14-of-22 from the free-throw line on its way to another 50-point half. The Jaguars improved to 42.4 percent shooting in the period, but couldn't make up any of Louisiana's massive first-half advantage.

Louisiana had a huge edge in points in the paint, 52-14, and in bench points, 37-8. South Alabama outscored Louisiana from beyond the arc, 30-24.
