NCAA Game Summary - Appalachian State at Chattanooga

Boone, NC (SportsNetwork.com) - Z, Mason registered a double-double of 24 points and 13 rebounds as the Chattanooga Mocs routed the Appalachian State Mountaineers, 63-44, in a Southern Conference finale at McKenzie Arena.

Mason also blocked six shots for the Mocs (18-13, 12-4 SoCon). Gee McGhee tallied 11 points. Ronrico White dropped in 10 and Casey Jones cleared 10 boards.

Michael Obacha had 11 points as the only player in double figures for Appalachian State (9-20, 5-11).

A fairly even first half ended with Chattanooga leading, 35-30. The Mocs only shot at a 36.7 percent clip in the first frame, compared to 42.3 percent from the Mountaineers, but they had a 14-7 scoring edge from the free-throw line to earn the halftime edge.

Appalachian State didn't put up much of a fight after the break, recording only four field goals and going 6-of-17 at the free-throw line in the second frame. Chattanooga only shot at a 36.7 percent pace in the period, but it was enough to pull away for the win,

The Mountaineers lost despite doubling up the Mocs in points off of turnovers (16-8). Chattanooga had a 50-32 advantage on the boards.
