NCAA Game Summary - Samford at The Citadel

Charleston, SC (SportsNetwork.com) - Ashton Moore poured in 24 points to lead The Citadel Bulldogs to an 81-71 victory over the Samford Bulldogs in a Southern Conference collision at McAlister Field House.

Matt Van Scyoc tallied 19 points and Marshall Harris III added 13 for The Citadel (5-25, 1-14 SoCon), which ended a 17-game losing streak in picking up its first conference win.

Isaiah Williams netted 24 points and Tim Williams tacked on 20 for Samford (11-18, 5-9), which has lost four straight.

The Citadel hit an even 50 percent of its shots in the first half, including 6-of-14 from 3-point range. Samford could not keep up, netting just 34.6 percent from the field in the opening period.

The hosting Bulldogs continued their hot shooting in the second half, connecting on 56.5 percent from the floor, which was enough to hold off Samford despite the visitors sinking 52.8 percent in the frame.

Samford had a 36-20 scoring edge in the paint in the loss. The Citadel earned a 20-9 advantage from the free-throw line.
