NCAA Game Summary - South Dakota at IUPUI

Indianapolis, IN (SportsNetwork.com) - Trevor Gruis finished with 18 points and six rebounds as the South Dakota Coyotes edged the IUPUI Jaguars, 71-67, in a Summit League bout at The Jungle.

Tyler Larson added 13 points and five rebounds for South Dakota (10-15, 4-6 Summit) as it snapped a two-game losing streak. Tyler Flack scored 12 points and pulled down a game-high seven rebounds while Trey Norris contributed 10 points and six assists.

For the Jaguars (6-22, 1-10), Mitch Patton tallied 16 points, six boards and three steals. Elijah Ray posted 12 points to go along with six rebounds and Marcellus Barksdale chimed in with 10 points and six assists.

IUPUI managed to build a six-point lead by the 12:46 mark of the first half, but the visitors responded with seven consecutive points to take their first lead of the game with just over 10 minutes left before the break. Although the Jaguars connected on 50 percent of their field goal attempts and limited South Dakota to 40 percent efficiency from the floor in the opening 20 minutes, the contest was tied at 32 at halftime.

The Coyotes heated up to knock down 56 percent of their shots from the field including 3-of-7 from beyond the arc in the second stanza. IUPUI hit on 5- of-12 attempts from 3-point range after the break, but it converted only 40 percent of its field goal tries.

South Dakota enjoyed a 34-26 advantage in the rebounding battle and outscored the Jaguars, 30-24, in the paint. With the win, the Coyotes completed the season series sweep and improved to 5-1 all-time versus IUPUI.
