NCAA Game Summary - Long Beach State at Cal State Northridge

Northridge, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Stephan Hicks poured in a career-high 28 points, as the Cal State Northridge Matadors closed out the Big West Conference regular season with a 91-83 victory over the Long Beach State 49ers at the Matadome.

Hicks shot 7-of-11 from the field and made all 13 of his free-throw attempts for CSUN (15-17, 7-9 Big West), which snapped a two-game losing streak. Josh Greene and Tre Hale-Edmerson both scored 15 points, with Hale-Edmerson adding eight rebounds, five blocks, four assists and three steals. Stephen Maxwell chipped in 13 points and nine boards for the hosts.

Tyler Lamb put up 22 points for LBSU (13-16, 9-6), which ended the regular season on a three-game slide. Mike Caffey registered 19 points and seven assists, Branford Jones netted 17 points off the bench and Dan Jennings logged 12 points and 10 rebounds.

CSUN shot 52 percent from the field in the first half and 13-of-17 at the foul line to take a 43-38 lead into intermission. LBSU lagged behind with a modest 41.4 percent showing from the floor.

The 49ers brought their deficit to just one possession on several occasions in the second half but were never able to overtake the lead. The Matadors sealed their fate by shooting 8-of-8 at the free-throw line over the final 47 seconds.

CSUN finished the contest an outstanding 34-of-39 at the charity stripe. LBSU also had a strong free-throw percentage (.864) but only had 22 attempts.
