NCAA Game Summary - Hawaii at UC Santa Barbara

Santa Barbara, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Alan Williams scored 18 points and ripped down 11 rebounds as the UC Santa Barbara Gauchos defeated the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors 86-77 in a Big West clash at the Thunderdome.

Kyle Boswell added 17 points off the bench for UCSB (19-9, 11-4 Big West), which has won four of its last five. Zalmico Harmon chipped in 16 points. Michael Bryson finished with 13 and Mitch Brewe chimed in with 11.

Christian Standhardinger tallied 18 points and Keith Shamburger netted 16 for Hawaii (19-10, 8-7), which has lost three of its last four. Davis Rozitis contributed 11 points and Aaron Valdes had 10.

Bryson scored 11 of his 13 points in the first half as the Gauchos shot 46.4 percent from the floor, including a 7-of-10 effort from 3-point range, to claim a 39-27 lead at the break. The Rainbow Warriors only connected on 36.7 percent from the field in the first 20 minutes.

Hawaii cut into their deficit a bit in the second half when it hit on 53.8 percent from the floor. However, UCSB was able to stem the tide by shooting 50 percent and outscoring the hosts 22-4 from the free-throw line.

The game featured an odd moment in the first half. Hawaii head coach Gib Arnold was called for a technical foul with 6:02 left in the period, after which a fan made his way onto the court and began yelling at Arnold. Standhardinger and Garrett Nevels both pushed the fan away and there was no further incident.
