NCAA Game Summary - Western Michigan at Hawaii

Honolulu, HI (SportsNetwork.com) - Christian Standhardinger and Keith Shamburger provided 17 points apiece to help the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors defeat the Western Michigan Broncos, 78-68, in the Rainbow Classic at the Stan Sheriff Center.

Isaac Fotu added a double-double of 14 points and 10 rebounds for Hawaii (2-0), which also received 13 points from Quincy Smith. Shamburger led the Rainbow Warriors with four assists.

David Brown and Kellen McCormick scored 14 points each for WMU (1-1). Jared Klein chipped in 13 points and Connar Tava tallied 10 points, but also committed seven turnovers in the Broncos' first setback of the season.

Hawaii took a narrow, 39-36, lead into the intermission after shooting 44.4 percent from the floor in the opening 20 minutes of action. The Broncos sank 5-of-10 from beyond the arc in the first half.

WMU cooled off after the break and hit on only 30.4 percent of its field goal tries in the second half. The Rainbow Warriors extended their lead to double- digits by converting 13-of-15 attempts at the free-throw line after halftime.

Hawaii outscored the visitors, 34-20, in the pain and held a 36-22 edge in the rebounding battle.
