NCAA Game Summary - George Washington at Richmond

Richmond, VA (SportsNetwork.com) - Led by 16 points from Maurice Creek, the George Washington Colonials downed the Richmond Spiders, 73-65, in an Atlantic 10 Conference clash at the Robins Center.

For the Colonials (20-6,8-4 A-10), Joe McDonald and Isaiah Armwood each finished with 14 points, Kevin Larsen posted a double-double with 11 points and 13 rebounds and Patricio Garino chipped in with 10 points.

ShawnDre' Jones led all scorers with 25 points for the Spiders (17-9, 7-4), who saw their three-game winning streak snapped. Terry Allen added 16 points and nine rebounds and Kendall Anthony scored 14 in the loss. Trey Davis also cleared 10 boards.

The Spiders had the slimmest of leads at the break, 29-28, as neither team shot the ball well to open the contest. Richmond shot just 40.7 percent from the field, including 2-of-9 from beyond the arc in the first half. GW struggled even more, making only 31 percent of its field goal tries and missing all but one of its 3-pointers.

After intermission, both squads found their shot. The Spiders shot 48.4 percent from the field and 5-of-11 from 3-point range. Even better were the Colonials in the second half, who connected on 50 percent of their field goal attempts, including 4-of-7 from beyond the arc. With the game tied at 60-60 with just over four minutes to play, the Colonials scored four-straight points and never trailed again, as they held on down the stretch for the victory.

The Colonials outscored the Spiders at the free-throw line, 22-6. GW also had the edge on points in the paint, 30-26.
