NCAA Game Summary - George Washington at La Salle

Philadelphia, PA (SportsNetwork.com) - Sam Mills scored 17 points to lead the La Salle Explorers over the George Washington Colonials, 76-72, at Tom Gola Arena in Atlantic-10 Conference play.

Mills was 6-of-8 from the field, including 5-of-7 from 3-point range for the Explorers (8-6, 1-0 A-10), who have won three of their last four. Tyrone Garland and Tyreek Duren contributed 15 and 13 points, respectively.

Isaiah Armwood notched a double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds for the Colonials (12-3, 0-1), who have lost two of their last three. Patricio Garino and Joe McDonald netted 15 and 12 points, respectively. Kevin Larsen grabbed 11 rebounds.

La Salle shot 46.2 percent from the field in the opening half, including 4- of-11 from the perimeter. The Colonials shot just 38.5 percent from the floor, but hit 11-of-15 from the line. The teams went into halftime knotted at 31 a side.

In the second half, the Explorers shot a confident 52.6 percent from the floor, including 5-of-9 from beyond the arc, but they had 15 fewer field goal attempts than the Colonials, who shot 38.2 percent. The Colonials tied the game with 4:39 to play, but could never take hold of the lead in the final half. Garland scored what proved to be the game-winning bucket on La Salle's next possession.

In contrast to La Salle's solid perimeter game, George Washington hit just 3- of-14 from long range.
