NCAA Game Summary - St. John's at Marquette

Milwaukee, WI (SportsNetwork.com) - D'Angelo Harrison, Rysheed Jordan and JaKarr Sampson all scored 20 points, as the St. John's Red Storm claimed a 91-90 double-overtime victory against the Marquette Golden Eagles in the Big East Conference regular-season finale for both teams at the BMO Harris Bradley Center.

Phil Greene IV added 11 points to help the Red Storm (20-11, 10-8 Big East) sweep the regular-season series and clinch the fifth seed in next week's Big East Conference Tournament.

Davante Gardner had 21 points and Todd Mayo scored 20 off the bench for the Golden Eagles (17-14, 9-9), who closed out their schedule with three straight losses. Jamil Wilson was next in line with 15 points, followed by Jake Thomas with 14, and Deonte Burton with 10.

St. John's led by as many as eight midway through the first half. However, Marquette weathered the early storm and eventually went into the locker room with a 36-35 halftime lead thanks to Thomas' fadeaway 3-pointer at the buzzer.

St. John's led 72-66 with 22 seconds left in regulation and seemed destined for victory, but Marquette, improbably, came charging back. Mayo hit a runner just before the buzzer to send the game to overtime

After the first overtime was unable to decide the outcome, the intensity picked up in the second extra session. Harrison drained a three to tie the score at 90-90 with just under a minute to play. Then, after Jordan hit a free throw to give St. John's a one-point lead, Marquette's Derrick Wilson came up empty on a potential game-winning jumper from the baseline with one second on the clock.

The Red Storm finished 10-3 in league play after a 0-5 start, and they'll look to carry that momentum into next week's conference tournament.
