NCAA Game Summary - San Jose State at Colorado State

Fort Collins, CO (SportsNetwork.com) - Led by a game-high 21 points from Jon Octeus, the Colorado State Rams defeated the San Jose State Spartans, 78-66, in a Mountain West Conference bout at Moby Arena.

For the Rams (16-14, 7-10 MWC), Daniel Bejarano added 19 points and nine rebounds, J.J. Avila finished with 15 points and eight assists and Joe De Ciman chipped in with 10 points.

Jaleel Williams led the Spartans (7-22, 1-16) with 19 points, while Isaac Thornton scored 14 and Jalen James dished out seven assists. The Spartans are now winless against the Rams in eight tries all-time.

Colorado State shot an impressive 59.3 percent from the field in the first half, including 5-of-9 from beyond the arc. A 15-2 run early in the half put the Rams in control as they took a 44-34 lead into halftime. San Jose State shot 42.9 percent from the field but was very effective from deep, knocking down 6-of-10 from 3-point range in the frame.

After the break, the Rams struggled with their shooting, making just 38.5 percent of their field goal tries and missing on all but one of their six 3- point tries. The Spartans connected on 6-of-15 from 3-point distance, part of a 46.2 percent shooting performance in the half. San Jose State used an 11-1 run to cut its deficit to just four, 60-56, midway through the second, but the Rams scored 10 straight points to retake control, as they maintained a double- digit lead the rest of the way.

The Rams had the edge in points in the paint, 32-24. Colorado State also had a big night at the free-throw line, scoring 20 points to just six for San Jose State.
