NCAA Game Summary - South Florida at Houston

Houston, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - Danuel House tallied 17 points, nine rebounds and five assists to lead the Houston Cougars past the South Florida Bulls, 78-69, in American Athletic Conference action at Hofheinz Pavilion.

L.J. Rose added 16 points on 4-of-5 shooting from beyond the arc for Houston (16-14, 8-9 AAC), winners of four straight. Jherrod Stiggers came off the bench to net 15 for the hosts.

For USF (12-18, 3-14), which extended its season-long losing streak to seven games, Victor Rudd poured in a game-high 25 points, while Martino Brock had 19 points in a reserve role.

Houston shot 48 percent from the field in the first half and held an eight- point lead with less than two minutes to go before intermission, but USF ended the frame on a 9-3 run to head into the break trailing by just two, 32-30.

The Cougars began the second half on a 19-6 run to open up a 15-point lead, 51-36, with 13:30 to go, but the Bulls came storming back to tie the game at 59 with 5:26 left on a John Egbunu layup. However, Houston avoided a collapse by ripping off a 13-3 surge to pull away.

Houston shot a red-hot 12-of-23 from 3-point range, while USF was only 1-of-9 from beyond the arc.
