NCAA Game Summary - UCF at Temple

Philadelphia, PA (SportsNetwork.com) - Dalton Pepper poured in 26 points to lift the Temple Owls to an 86-78 overtime victory over the UCF Knights in an American Athletic Conference thriller at the Liacouras Center.

Anthony Lee recorded a double-double for the Owls (8-21, 3-14 AAC) with 20 points and 10 rebounds, while Will Cummings knocked down 7-of-11 shots from the floor en route to 23 points. Quenton DeCosey contributed eight points, seven boards and five assists as Temple snapped a four-game losing streak.

Calvin Newell led UCF (11-17, 3-13) with 23 points, but also committed six of the team's 19 turnovers. Kasey Wilson added 14 points and seven rebounds, while Matt Williams provided a spark off the bench with 11 points and six boards.

Temple outrebounded the Knights, 19-14, and forced 10 turnovers in the opening period en route to a 36-33 halftime lead. UCF trailed at the break despite connecting on 7-of-14 attempts from beyond the arc in the first half.

The Owls extended their lead to 11 points in the early stages of the second stanza, however the visitors managed to rally back and held a 66-65 advantage on the scoreboard with 2:32 remaining in regulation. Cummings drained a 3- pointer to put the hosts back in front before Newell sank a pair of free-throw attempts with five seconds left in the second half to tie the score at 70. Temple had a chance to win in regulation, but Cummings had his last second layup blocked by Staphon Blair.

Temple converted 12-of-13 shots at the charity stripe in the extra session to pull away. UCF scored only two points at the free-throw line and went 3-of-10 from the floor in overtime.

The Knights outscored the Owls, 33-18, from beyond the arc in the contest. Temple finished with a 36-30 edge in total rebounds.
