Also scoring in double figures for the Pirates (15-15, 6-11 Big East), were Eugene Teague and Fuquan Edwin with 17 points apiece, the former also pulling down eight rebounds before fouling out as the team snapped a three-game slide.

Semaj Christon led all scorers with 28 points, hitting 9-of-18 shots from the floor and 9-of-11 at the free-throw line for the Musketeers (20-10, 10-7) as they had a two-game win streak snapped. Coming up a rebound shy of a double- double was Isaiah Philmore who tallied 11 points for the visitors.

Xavier led by a basket early on, but the Pirates held the Musketeers to a mere 29.6 percent shooting from the floor in the first half, including 1-of-10 beyond the arc, which allowed the hosts to claim a 32-20 edge at the break.

In the second half Seton Hall went on to convert 52.0 percent from the floor and at the same time limited Xavier to a mere 2-of-12 on the outside, en route to the nine-point win.

The Pirates finished the evening shooting 46.9 percent from the floor and clamped down defensively on the perimeter in order to overcome 16 turnovers.

The Pirates will close out the regular season on Saturday at Butler, while Xavier hosts nationally-ranked Villanova on Thursday night.
