NCAA Game Summary - Old Dominion at Charlotte

Charlotte, NC (SportsNetwork.com) - Willie Clayton and Mike Thorne Jr. each netted 14 points and grabbed nine rebounds as the Charlotte 49ers outlasted the Old Dominion Monarchs, 74-63, in a Conference USA clash at Halton Arena.

Marcus Bryan came off the bench to score 10 points for Charlotte (15-13, 6-9 C-USA), adding four rebounds to his stat line. Pierria Henry dished out a team-best 10 assists in the win, which ended a six-game 49ers losing streak.

Aaron Bacote led all scorers in the contest with 17 points for Old Dominion (14-16, 8-7). Dimitri Batten chipped in 10 points, and Denzell Taylor led the Monarchs in rebounding with seven. ODU has lost two of its last three games.

Charlotte came out in the first half and shot 48.3 percent from the floor, but hit just 2-of-8 from 3-point range, as the 49ers took a 32-26 lead into the intermission. Old Dominion connected on 42.3 percent of its field goal tries in the frame, but made only one of its five free-throw attempts.

The 49ers upped their shooting accuracy to 55.2 percent in the second half, including 4-of-10 from deep. The Monarchs shot an impressive 57.1 percent from the field, but were still outscored in the period, 42-37, as Charlotte cruised to victory.

The 49ers had the edge in points in the paint, 40-28, and outscored Old Dominion from the free-throw line, 8-3.
