NCAA Game Summary - Cornell at Dartmouth

Hanover, NH (SportsNetwork.com) - Alex Mitola finished with 33 points as the Dartmouth Big Green outlasted the Cornell Big Red, 87-78, in an Ivy League shootout at Leede Arena.

Mitola went 8-of-9 from 3-point range, Kevin Crescenzi added 17 points and Connor Boehm chipped in 11 for Dartmouth (10-16, 3-9 Ivy League), which ended a seven-game losing streak. Tyler Melville contributed 10 points and five assists.

Dwight Tarwater netted 23 points and Devin Cherry logged 22 for Cornell (2-24, 1-11), which has lost five straight. Ned Tomic scored 12 points in the loss.

In the first half the Big Green only hit on 38.7 percent from the floor, but they nailed six 3-pointers and went 6-of-6 at the free-throw line. The Big Red shot at a 40 percent clip, but went just 3-of-12 from beyond the arc. Dartmouth led, 36-30, at intermission.

The Big Green got hot in the second half when they shot 65.2 percent from the floor, including a 6-of-7 showing from 3-point range. Cornell also improved its shooting (.593), but not by enough.

The Big Red lost despite a 36-20 scoring edge in the paint. Dartmouth won the battle of the boards (33-26).
