NCAA Game Summary - Rice at Middle Tennessee

Murfreesboro, TN (SportsNetwork.com) - Shawn Jones scored 15 points as the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders dominated the Rice Owls, 65-41, in a Conference USA clash at the Murphy Center.

Kerry Hammonds logged 14 points, while Neiko Hunter added 12 points and seven boards for the Blue Raiders (22-8, 12-3 C-USA), who have won 10 of their last 11 games.

Max Guercy finished with nine points and Ross Wilson had eight points and seven rebounds for the Owls (7-21, 2-13), who extended their losing streak to six games.

Middle Tennessee shot 38.5 percent from the field in the first half, but it led 33-19 at the break. Rice made 41.2 percent of its field goal attempts, taking nine fewer shots.

The Blue Raiders connected on 40.9 percent of their field goal tries in the second period, while the Owls struggled to make 25.9 percent of their shots from the floor. Middle Tennessee was in control for the entire frame, leading by as many as 25 points.

Middle Tennessee did a better job on the glass as it outrebounded Rice, 39-29.
