NCAA Game Summary - Boston College at Wake Forest

Winston-Salem, NC (SportsNetwork.com) - Ryan Anderson finished with a game- high 24 points to lead the Boston College Eagles over the Wake Forest Demon Deacons, 80-72, in an Atlantic Coast Conference matchup at the Lawrence Joel Coliseum.

For the Eagles (8-21, 4-12 ACC), Olivier Hanlan added 17 points, Lonnie Jackson scored 12 and Patrick Heckmann chipped in with 10 points.

Devin Thomas and Travis McKie each scored 18 points to lead the Demon Deacons (15-14, 5-11), while Coron Williams finished with 13 points and Codi Miller- McIntyre scored 10.

Both teams struggled from the field to start the contest. BC shot just 39.3 percent, including 3-of-9 from 3-point range. Wake was even worse at just 35.3 percent, though the team did connect on 4-of-12 from beyond the arc. With the score tied 10-10 with seven minutes gone in the first half, the Eagles went on an 11-1 run to take the lead, and still led at the break, 30-24.

After intermission, the teams found their stroke. The Demon Deacons knocked down 53.8 percent of their field goal tries in the second. The Eagles weren't as effective from the field at just 45.5 percent shooting, but did their damage at the charity stripe, outscoring the Demon Deacons 27-18 from the free-throw line in the second period. Wake rallied after halftime and took the lead, 42-40, with just under 14 minutes to play in regulation. BC answered with eight-straight points and never trailed again, as the Eagles held on down the stretch for the victory.

BC finished with a 12-0 edge in second chance points, owning a 13-2 edge in offensive rebounds. The Eagles dominated the glass, outrebounding the Demon Deacons, 36-21.
