NCAA Game Summary - Cleveland State at Valparaiso

Valparaiso, IN (SportsNetwork.com) - Trey Lewis and Marlin Mason each netted 11 points as the Cleveland State Vikings defeated the Valparaiso Crusaders, 63-52, in a Horizon League clash at the Athletics-Recreation Center.

Lewis buried 3-of-6 from 3-point range in the contest, adding four assists for the Vikings (21-10, 12-4 HL). Ludovic Ndaye scored 10 points and grabbed seven rebounds off the bench for Cleveland State, which won three games in a row to end the season. The Vikings finished two games back of Green Bay for the conference lead.

LaVonte Dority netted 13 points to pace Valpo (17-14, 9-7), and was the only Crusaders player to score double figures. Moussa Gueye pulled down a team-high six rebounds in the loss, which was second in a row for Valpo.

Cleveland State hit 38.5 percent of its shot attempts in the first half, and went 10-of-15 from the free-throw line, to take a 34-31 lead into the intermission. Valpo connected on 45.5 percent of its field goal tries, including 4-of-9 from 3-point range.

The Vikings exploded in the second half, netting 54.5 percent of their shots, but went just 2-of-7 from deep. The Crusaders dropped their shooting accuracy down just slightly to 42.9 percent, but missed all four 3-point tries in the period.

Cleveland State forced 18 Valparaiso turnovers, and won the battle in points off turnovers, 22-10. The Vikings also outrebounded the Crusaders in the contest, 32-25.
